"21st Century Flâneur" was originally conceived for Moore Street; Dublin's most famous market street.
Practically an organic street, it is full of life with character in abundance; manic during the day, slowing at night, yet never stopping.
The piece was exhibited as part of the Moore Street Lending Library Project in the Dublin Fringe Festival. It reflects the change in society and the value placed on human life. With technology becoming a wedge, inhibiting the formation of real human relationships and gradually isolating the
city dweller.
"21st Century Flâneur" also brings into question the moral issues of the balance of power between visible and hidden observers, referencing also the psychology of Jeremy Benthams "Panopticon" and the classic notion of George Orwells Big Brother. As with previous works,
the viewer's presence and interaction is essential.
